Deadwood Management in Central European Forests

Lucie Vitkova - know working at the University in Prague - and collegues published a paper on deadwood management aimed at forestry practitioners. There is also a certified  deadwood management guide very closely related to the article. -

A team from the Department of Forest Ecology at the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences from the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague led by Lucie Vitkova recently published a paper compiling the key aspects of deadwood management in managed forests where the aim is to favour biodiversity without compromising or negatively affecting operational and commercial aspects of forest management.

This paper is aimed to be read by practitioners, forest owners, scientists as well as those interested in any aspects of deadwood management. The authors believe that the application of deadwood management is of interest of foresters applying Pro Silva principles and uneven-aged silviculture.
