The signatory members of the current memorandum, following regular contacts and meetings since 1987, and the meeting of foresters from 10 European countries on the 18th to 22nd December 1989 in Slovenia (former Yugoslavia), created a European Association of Foresters who advocates forest management based on natural processes.

In the Annual General Meeting 2021 some substantial changes to the constitution were confirmed. They were successfully submitted to the court in Molsheim (France).

"Pro Silva" was registered in 2011 as an European Trade Mark at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) as a word trade mark. In September 2021 it was renewed and now is valid until September 2031. For the UK a seperate registration was made till 9/2031.

The trademark protection is valid for the products and services according to the Nice Classification for

• 39 - Arranging of study trips in the field of forestry and forest management.
• 41 - Education; Providing of training; Arranging courses; Arranging of colloquiums; Organising of congresses; All the aforesaid services being in the field of forestry and forest management.

Within the European Union trademark protection was enlarged also to Nice Classification for

• 35 - Advertising agency services in relation to the following fields: Forestry, Forest management, forest ecology, natural ecosystems; Corporate communications services in relation to the following fields: Forestry, Forest management, forest ecology, natural ecosystems; Marketing in relation to the following fields: Forestry, Forest management, forest ecology, natural ecosystems; Public relations services in relation to the following fields: Forestry, Forest management, forest ecology, natural ecosystems.
• 42 - Provision of scientific information, advice and consultancy in relation to carbon offsetting; Providing of scientific information and advice exclusively in the field of forestry, forest management, forest ecology, and natural ecosystems.
• 44 - Forestry; Tree surgery; Pruning of trees; Pest control for forestry; Planting of trees and other plants for carbon offsetting purposes; Reforestation services; Transplanting of trees; Forestry management; Wood harvesting.

These numbers were registered at the application from Pro Silva France

This covers most of our current activities. In fact "Pro Silva", as an european organisation is licening the use of their trademark to their full members, that fulfill the criteria:

• 1) They act as an independent non governmental organisation with a valid constitution and an registered status within the member country
• 2) Their constitution directly includes the Pro Silva Principles (2012) or has a strong reference to those principles and the organisation is active in the same fields as Pro Silva on a national level.
