The increasing relevance of Pro Silva on the European forest policy stage is creating new demands on the organization, and the need for an appraisal of our aims and objectives and capacity to respond to partnerships and project opportunities. The board has recognised this need by developing a strategy paper that will provide guidelines for the secretariat at the international level, but also support for member organisations to take advantage of the Pro Silva network; improving communications and consolidating activities.
The strategy development process started with a joint meeting of the board in Brussels in January 2024, where the board collated ideas over a two-day workshop. This was followed by a questionnaire sent to all members, as well as several internal online meetings and direct interviews with the member’s representatives (presidents and administrators).
Finally, the draft strategy was presented at the annual meeting in Sardinia in May 2025 and approved by the general assembly. After final edits and an agreed layout, translations to member’s native languages are now being written.
The Pro Silva board are proud to share this final strategy, which has already received positive acknowledgement from potential donors and other supporters. The strategy paper will be a live document, open for continued development and will result in an action plan to guide our work into the future.
